I can still remember the day that both my children were born. For Colt (name for my son on this blog), it was just about 6pm on a Wednesday. Joe was getting ready to go to class and I was sitting in the office. I stood up to go to another room and said “Well, either my water just broke or I just wet my pants.” I was more faithful at updating my blog then and I look back now and am amazed at such a wonderful gift God gave me the next day, Thursday, October 5.
Fast forward three years. I woke up on Thursday morning exhausted from the previous day where I had to suffer through telling people the they were going to be let go from their job. At about 7am I heard my phone ring (it was in the kitchen and I was in the bathroom) so I ran to get it, not sure what the day would hold and if I would have to do more layoffs. When I got to the kitchen, my water broke and later that day, my beautiful baby girl was born. Thursday, October 1.
So this past week, we celebrated two birthdays. Already Colt knows that he is special. He said “Mommy, I’m glad God gave me to you.” (tears in my eyes). We told him the story of how mommy and daddy prayed for a baby and after two miscarriages, that God said “You can have this special boy but you have to love him and take care of him.” He loves that story.
As for Rosebud (name for my daughter on this blog), she melts the heart of both her parents. She is obsessed (that is putting it lightly) with puppies, bubbles and Dora. At times you would think those are the only words in her vocabulary. It seems like every day she learns a new word. Her words this week were elbow and pizza.
I write these memories down because I realized that I will some day forget the small details that we cherish right now. Please feel free to add comments with your favorite memories of Colt and/or Rosebud.
