Well, life is busy! As if we don’t know that LOL. Work, kid’s activities, volunteering, church and any other project where I end up giving in and saying “yes.”
To quickly summarize, I mentioned in a previous post that last April I was part of a restructuring that left me and hundreds of others without a job. I haven’t had a chance to expand on that but I promise I will because it was THE.BEST.THING that has happened to me!
When I started the business, one of the founding principals was “Five percent of profits are fed back into the community for benevolence such as feeding the homeless, giving to food pantries, and helping those in need.“
I’m happy to say that beginning in January 2022, the business (and our family) is now able to support organizations that are making an impact on our community and the world. The first project was a one-time support in January for a local organization in Dallas. The February project for Kids of Hope and March project (not yet revealed but stay tuned) will become monthly, recurring support.
But wait, there’s more!
My son, Sam, and I are also part of a wonderful organization called YMSL (Young Men’s Service League). Through this organization, Sam and I have been serving organizations in the community for almost a year now. We are excited to be able to continue this through his high school years and I am honored to join the local Board as the Vice President of Communications for the upcoming year (yes, more commitments).
Along with the increase in work and other activities, our blessings, laughter and quality time have also increased.
I would love to hear about projects and organizations that are close to your heart. Leave a comment with information.
