Week 1 with creatures in our garage – Rabbit summary

Remembering back to last Monday when we got the rabbits, by the time we got them home they had already pooped and peed in the cage. Again, not having a lot of information before getting the rabbits, we didn’t know that we should have put hay in the bottom of the cage. Next morning…well…let’s just say that we absolutely needed to get baby wipes for their paws and other places.

We also learned that rabbits are mischievous. We put 2 water bottles and a big feeder in the cage. The next morning, the feeder was knocked over on the bottom of the cage mixed with pee/poop and one of the water bottles was knocked to the ground outside the cage. Creativity kicked in and we used the wire ties from bread packages to tie the feeder to the cage and fix the water bottle issue.

The teacher in charge of rabbits for FFA mentioned that the rabbits needed 1 hour of time outside the cage to exercise and play. So next on the list was getting a pet playpen for outside.

You’ve seen the Mastercard commercials where they list out prices for things then end with “Priceless”… well here is our own version.

Rabbits/feed – $250

Hay – $50

Cages – $160

Other stuff for rabbits – $100 (and counting)

The look on our daughter’s face every time she holds the rabbits – Priceless
