After a day of honoring women that I work with and other women that have impacted my life (like my mom and sisters), I started to reflect on what it truly means to be a woman in today’s society and does that match up to my Biblical values.
So I looked at the Bible and of course, there were many examples of strong, beautiful women that were leaders and give us an example of how we can “lean in.”
First, I thought of Esther. She is described as a fair and beautiful woman who found favor with the person in charge of finding a new queen. When it was her time to go in front of the king, it is stated that “The king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found favor and kindness with him.”
For those who know the story, Esther, an immigrant, was able to save her entire race of people because of the favor she had with the king.
I also looked at other strong women in the Bible.
- Deborah: a judge
- Mary: the mother of Jesus
- Eve: the first mother of all humankind
- Mary Magdalene: found the empty tomb
We have so many examples in the Bible of women that have impacted our history and our future. There are also many women today that we can see as examples of how to live our lives in a successful yet honorable way.
Feel free to leave a comment on a woman that has impacted your life in a positive way.
