I started this posting several times as I reminisced the last week of what might be called a vacation. According to Merriam-Webster, a vacation is “a respite or a time of respite from something; a scheduled period during which activity is suspended; a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation.”
Let’s break this down.
Respite – from what? Cooking, cleaning? Definitely not from the kids.
Period when activity is suspended – seriously??? The only activity that was suspended was my sleep.
Time in travel or recreation – travel:yes; recreation:no.
I would beg to differ – I think vacation is a period of time where you make plans to do more than you can ever do in a 24 hour time-frame, travel at off-times so you can get a cheap airfare, eat too much junk and fast food and get less sleep in one week than you would in one normal night.
And what do you get in return for this compressed period of time?
When the vacation is to visit family that you haven’t seen in a while, you experience the best HUGS, KISSES, LAUGHTER, AND MEMORIES!
Thanks to my family for an exhausting and fun time. I wished we lived closer but I know that the time we do spend together is worth every second.
