Merry Christmas

I haven’t been on my soapbox for several months so I figured now is the perfect time.

NOTICE THE HEADLINE OF MERRY CHRISTMAS. Last year I posted on saying “Merry Christmas” and I feel the need to reinforce it again this year. Last night Joe and I were watching the news and heard that 75% of Americans still prefer to hear “Merry Christmas” this time of year. And this morning, I was told that someone at my company was revising our interactive email Christmas Card to say Happy Holidays. I almost lost it!

So why do so many still feel the need to say “Happy Holidays” trying not to offend anyone? With our country in such a turmoil, the one thing that we can hold onto is the hope that comes from the birth of Christ and his ultimate death and resurrection.

For those that are of another faith and celebrate differently, this time of year still needs to be recognized for those of us who celebrate Christmas. If we are going to be so politically correct, we should be saying Happy Holidays all the time, even for New Year or Easter or Ramadan or Chanukah or Memorial Day or Columbus Day.

I say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Let me celebrate this Christmas season and I will let you celebrate your holidays.

That is enough for this year, I am sure I will be back on the soapbox again next year.
