Big Boy Bed

Next month our son will be 2 years old! We just can’t believe that it is happening so fast. We have been discussing what to get him for his birthday and we decided on a tricycle. So tonight, on the spur of a moment, we decided to go to Toys R Us to see if we could get one. We didn’t know that the one near us was closing and moving to a new location so everything was on sale. Let me say that the word “Sale” is like a magnet for things that you don’t really need. BUT, there can be those times when a sale is just what you need.

We ended up buying Colt a bedding set so that when we transition him from a crib to a bed he will have something new and exciting. At the store, he saw the Elmo set and kept repeating “Elmo, Elmo, Elmo” so we had to give in and get it.
Joe and I have noticed that Colt is getting taller and if he really tried he could lean over and fall out of the crib. SO, after we got back from the store Joe decided that we should lower the mattress on his bed. I commented (OK, I complained) that if he lowered the mattress then I wouldn’t be able to lean over the edge and lay him down at night. So my recommendation was to go ahead and put on the side rails and begin the transition to a “real” bed for him.
WHAT AN EMOTIONAL TIME FOR US (actually me)! GULP, he is now becoming a toddler.

Colt helped us (actually he was more in the way than actually helping), and we finally finished. We put on his new Elmo sheets and he was so excited. I am so glad that we got the sheets because when I said “Time to go to sleep. Get in bed with Elmo.” he got right in and laid his head down. It was SO ADORABLE.

We will see how he does in the morning when he wakes up. Will he get out of the bed and come into our room or just sit there and wait for us like he does every morning?
