I can’t believe it has been more than a month since I have written anything. I tell Joe that this is the one thing that I miss when I get busy. Writing down my thoughts and catching everyone up on what has been happening in our lives. Pap Pap (my dad) said I was negligent on posting/sending pictures, so I will start our with a picture of Colt as he is helping his dad mow the lawn. BTW, “mow” is now one of his favorite words and everytime we go in the garage, he asks his dad to “mow.”
Before I forget, I want to plug a book I just read. “The Shack” I am sure when you read it there will be many ideas that you will question about religion, God, Jesus, the Trinity, judging people, forgiveness, and many more. The book is deep yet controversial. You really have to see it as a work of fiction that has a wellspring of thoughts. I might have to come back to this book later because it really made me think and touched me deeply in so many areas.
Now on to some updates from the last month. Most recently, Joe and I had the opportunity to go to San Francisco/Oakland for a quick vacation with quality time for the two of us and a visit with our dear friend Bridget. Reconnecting with your spouse is essential, but even more important when you have children. In just a few days, we were able to share experiences and talk about issues that we don’t normally have the time to discuss in any real depth without being interrupted by “life.” AND we got to do an incredibly, fabulous Segway tour of San Francisco. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone going to a city to check out and see if they have this. It was so easy and we had so much fun. This was Joe’s favorite thing about the trip.
Colt is growing up so quickly and is now repeating and learning new words every day. He has a book that shows construction equipment. He sees the dump truck and says “umb ruck” then points to the man in the truck and says “pap pap.” He said his first real sentence last week when he fell off my legs (he was riding the horse) and he said “I fell down.” He also says “open door” and other short things that are getting close to real sentences. Tomorrow he will start his first day of “Mother’s Day Out” at our church.
A few more thoughts from my last post on Women’s Friendships. I know God is answering prayers to allow me to develop deeper, more meaningful friendships with women. To share my heart. Be supported as I listen and pray for others.
