Spring, and allergies, are here

We have been spending a lot of time outside now that the weather has turned a little warmer. And of course, now that I am pregnant I can’t take my normal allergy medicine (which you don’t realize how well it is working until you aren’t taking it and you are miserably sneezing and blowing your nose 24X7).

A week ago, Colt started coughing a little and sneezing at times. We thought he was just developing a small cold but over the last week, it has gotten much worse. Last night he was fussing and crying, in between coughing and sneezing. We decided to take him to the doctor and to our dismay, HE HAS ALLERGIES! AT 18 MONTHS OLD! His nose was red and inflamed. Mucus was draining into his stomach so he has a decreased appetite. And his ears were FULL of wax.

We felt so bad for him that we bought him a toy. Now I have to say that we don’t do this often, but since he was feeling so bad we wanted to do something to make him feel better. A couple weeks ago at a friends house he was playing with a little Fisher Price push toy that makes pops the balls in the bottom and makes a “popping” noise (little did we know how annoying this would be on an hourly/daily basis).

I told Joe that it is so hard with Colt at this age. He can’t talk yet so he can’t tell me where it hurts and what is wrong. Holding him as he puts his head on my chest because he doesn’t feel well is so tough!

BUT, I thank God over and over again that overall he is healthy. I know of children that have serious medical problems that will cause them to have problems their entire lives.

Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessing see what God has done.
