In the description of this blog, I wrote the following:
This is a blog for family and friends (even new blogger friends) that hopefully can keep you updated on the lives of a modern-day family, living one day at a time.
I don’t know why but today, I really noticed the part about “living one day at a time” and I thought, “Am I really able to live one day at a time?”
Joe and I have had this conversation many, many, many times. I can only focus on the here and now. I am not good at dwelling on what happened in the past (this is good for forgiveness, but bad for trying to remember where you put the remote). I am also not good at looking toward the future and getting excited about what is coming. Yes, we plan for retirement and we save, but I mean the more immediate future.
For example, Joe will ask if I am getting excited about an upcoming trip. My response, “It isn’t until the end of the week. I still have four days to get through before I can even begin to think of a trip.” Yes, I also pack the night before.
But living one day at a time is more than that. Do I make the most of every day? Do I live each day like it is my last? How many of us can say that we do?
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. [Psalms 68:19]
