Not to rub it in with any Oklahoma (OU) fans, but WEST VIRGINIA kicked some “you know what” last night in the Fiesta Bowl. 48-28 the final score with a solid win to underscore the passion of football to the Mountain State.
This put the final touches on our night of watching football as we finished off the film “We are Marshall” before getting caught up in the excitement of the Fiesta Bowl. Now, to finish my review.
– We Are Marshall: A real tear jerker (yes, I actually did let a tear slide down my cheek) that had you rooting not only for the team, but for the entire town. The film allowed you to see glimpses of the raw emotions that came to the surface as a new coach and new team tried to keep football alive at the university after the tragedy of the plane crash. I love movies that are based on true events, especially when you are told at the end of the film what happened as an update. To learn that not only did football survive at the school, but after 20 years the team won the national championship gave you a warm feeling inside. “From the ashes…”
Sad to say that there probably won’t be another movie review until next Christmas when we have babysitters and time to actually go the theatre or rent movies. Until then, I would love to hear your film recommendations. BTW, I printed out the AFI’s Top 100 list of all-time movies and from the looks of it, I have a LONG list of films yet to see.
