Questions from a mother

I have heard it time and time again, but that doesn’t put my mind at ease. “All children are different.” I know that but it doesn’t make my questions any less important to answer.

– When is he going to let go and just walk? Colt is now 14 months old and still “cruising” around the furniture. Yes, I know, when ever he gets the confidence and is ready.

– Will he ever eat real food? Colt is still not eating “regular” food (except for Chex Mix or Cheerios Mix and possibly a few things when we go out to eat). And even with baby food he mostly puts his hands over his eyes and cries until you give him Cheerios to eat then he is happy.

– Will he skip the “sippy cup” and go straight to a regular cup? Whenever we try to give him a sippy cup, he throws it on the floor and cries. BUT, he will try to drink water from my cup.

– When is he going to start saying words other than “mommy” and “daddy” or “wow”? He does repeat sounds and it is so cute when he mimics me coughing when I am changing his diaper or when I say anything that begins with the letter “B” and he will repeat the “b..b..b..” sound and try to say the word.

Of course when he gets older, he will be the one asking the questions.
– Why is the sky blue?
– Why do I have to wear a coat?
– Why do I have to eat vegetables?
– Why can’t I have a pet like my friends?

Answer: Because your daddy and I said so.
