The year has gone by so quickly and all of a sudden the day to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior is upon us. I love what our pastor said at our Christmas Eve service.
“We know that Jesus was probably not born exactly on December 25, but it is important to set aside a day to celebrate the day that Jesus was born.”
This stuck in my mind. It is sad that the rest of the year we have a tendency to forget that God did send Jesus, his only son, to this earth as a precious gift to us. We no longer have the need to sacrifice animals on an alter because God gave us the ultimate sacrifice.
Joe and I talked about Christmas and what we are going to tell our son about Santa Claus when he gets a little older. We agreed that we will tell him there was a man that lived a long time ago named Saint Nick and that he is no longer alive and that our son’s presents come from mommy and daddy. BUT, we also want him to understand the reason we give gifts. It is to represent the fact that God gave us the gift of his son and we cannot forget that.
There are no words to truly express my gratitude to the ONE from whom all blessings flow. I received several gifts from family and friends this year that are very special and thoughtful. But I know the reason we celebrate this season. I will not forget the rest of the year and we will teach our son the same.
Merry Christmas to all!
