This word has been on my mind for several days now and I wanted to explore and share with you some thoughts.
At church on Sunday (and over the past several weeks) we have talked about king David in the Bible and his passion for God. He was so passionate about bringing the Ark back to Jerusalem what when it finally happened, he danced before God with all his might. This really made me think. Here was David, a king, leader of his nation, a warrior, a husband and father. One would think that he would have some “proper” way of showing his love to God (at least that is what his wife thought). Yet, he danced in front of the entire nation of Israel with no reserve.
This led me to think, what am I passionate about? My brother-in-law (who also happens to be named David) is PASSIONATE about music. He lights up when you ask a question or mention anything to do with music. I am working with the Taylor Hooton Foundation to fight steroid abuse in youth. The founder, Don Hooton, is PASSIONATE about this topic because his son committed suicide after using these drugs. A missionary from our church, Mary Faulkner, is PASSIONATE about rebuilding, restoring and raising up women in the world to be leaders through her organization called Leah’s Sisters.
So what am I passionate about? What gets me so excited that I can talk about it for hours? What makes my inner spirit burn with passion? I am still thinking and praying on this.
What about you? Can someone refer to you as a person with a passion?
And once you have that passion, will it lead you to a mission in life? Or a life with a mission.
