This is the time of year, officially, that we pay tribute to fathers. I would hope that we do not limit our praise and admiration to just one day. I can remember so many good things about my father and grandfather.
My dad, coming home after a long day’s work and hitting the baseball with us in the backyard (we didn’t grow up in Texas so we had a BIG backyard). My grandfather getting up at 4 am in the morning to take me night fishing (yes, he took his granddaughter fishing). My husband taking his daughter on a father-daughter “date” where they could do anything she wanted followed by a nice lunch together.
There are so many memories that I hope we all cherish. When I was younger, I wrote both my parents a letter telling them how much they meant to me and how I appreciated the way they raised me. I encourage you to do the same.
If you do not have a father that is alive or you do not have contact with your father, find a man that has had a positive impact on your life and give him the praise that he deserves.
