Friends

This Sunday we we finally made it to a Sunday school class (after months of me not feeling well, we became slackers in this area) and the topic was on discipleship. The talk revolved around the fact that everyone needs to be encouraged and supported. All day long after class, I thought about my friends. Have I been there for them? Am I a good listener and encourager? Do I have the Godly wisdom and understanding to be able to guide and support them?

I have to say being married takes up a lot of time. I love my husband and want to spend time with him because he is my best friend and we have so much fun together. BUT, that doesn’t mean that I am going to abandon my friends. I loved the time that I spent on Saturday chatting with friends at their moving sale. I loved that my husband and I went to lunch with friends after church to celebrate a birthday. I love that I will drive a friend to her doctor’s appointment this week. I LOVE EMAIL! Of course I miss talking to my friends on the phone or writing letters via snail mail, but I love that I can keep in touch with friends (from elementary school through college) even though we don’t see each other that often.

These may sound like ramblings, but I just want to encourage everyone to spend time with friends. Don’t be selfish with your time. You never know who may be hurting and waiting for an encouraging word or a smile.

Good friends on our travels to Italy and Switzerland.
